The guild met at Ted’s shop on Saturday, September 9th with 15 members present and 7 forges set up.  Carol prepared hamburgers and bean soup to go with all the side dishes brought in by members.  We ate very well.  Jim Kieth donated a nearly complete set of the “Anvil” magazines, which quit publication in 2002.  His gesture was greatly appreciated and will be added to a growing library.  The weekend of September 29th, 30th, and October 1st.  will be a busy time for some of the guild members.  They will be demonstrating at a big outing on the grounds of the Eiteljorg Indian Museum in Indianapolis and at the Gaithers Fall Festival in Alexandria.  The summer has been very busy with guild members demonstrating at the Illiana History Day, Independence History Day, Independence Heritage Festival, Illiana Steam and Power Show   and the Indiana State Fair.  All has been good exposure for our members.  Unfortunately, we must turn down a lot of requests for our presence.  The next meeting of the guild will be October 14th at Dominick Andrisani’s, located in the Vinton Woods, West Lafayette.  Dominick will demonstrate the art of repousse..  The November 18th meeting will be at Ted’s shop hosting the Indiana Blacksmith Assoc.  Demonstrators for the meeting will be Mark Thomas and Rob Evans talking about their month long trip to South Africa and training the Africans in the art of blacksmithing.  They will also demonstrate black smithing techniques.  Mark is a full time blacksmith and Rob is a praticing dentist.       Ted Stout

NOTE: Due to conflicting circumstances, Ted and Carol will not be able to host this year’s Thanksgiving Dinner.  If there are any members who would like to have the dinner in their place, please call Tom Swanson at: 765-762-2009.

Our Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, Oct.  1.  2006.

We will be having a carry-in dinner at 2:00 P.M.   Bring a dish to pass.  Ham and beans will be served and drinks will be provided.  Be sure to bring some plastic jugs along since the Bodine’s will have their cider press available.  We will have apples from Coffing Bros.  Orchard, but if you have your own apples (and pears) bring them along and we’ll do them for you.  The Pine Creek & Western R.R. group will be testing their boilers and running their engines.   So come and join in some “Fall Fun” at our lovely show grounds!!

Some members will be camping on saturday night, so don’t put your campers away for the winter yet .... enjoy a “last blast” of fall camping fun!!

In last month’s newsletter I missed listing Howard and Virginia Snider as new members.  Howard and Virginia are also one of the  vendors at our show.  They have the lovely display of wooden furniture for sale that Howard makes himself.  Welcome to the club!
