JANUARY 2007                                     ISSUE   1

A “HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!”  2007 is here and it is time to start planning our 26th Annual Show!!  So, mark your calendars and plan to attend our first meeting of the year!  It’ll be on Monday, January 15 th at 6:30 P.M. at the clubhouse.  Even though everyone is probably “full” of holiday meals, we will have a carry-in dinner before the meeting.....bring a dish to pass. Also, now is the time to build up our mowing fund, so bring something for the table for our merchandise drawing.  Let’s start the new year with a good attendance!  See you there!

We had a wonderful crowd at the annual Christmas Party at Don Bodine’s shed.  The weather was extremely pleasant so traveling was not a problem.  (Although some parts of Illinois and Indiana had several inches of snow the day before!)    It’s no surprise that our cookbooks have been a success....the food was out-standing and it’s very doubtful that anyone went home hungry!

A special treat of home made mint ice cream was served thanks to Jeremiah and Beth Eyrich.

There were plenty of volunteers available to “turn the crank”!   Don, Terry and Clayton Bodine, Finny Filchak and Randy Wade put together a fantastic train board.  There were standard gauge, O & S gauge and HO track.  The trains were “rolling” from early afternoon to late in the evening.  The only problem was Ed Grubb kept wrapping the wrong engines to take home!.......he said he couldn’t remember which one’s were his.  Sure Ed, we believe you!!  Tim Sering brought  his “live steam” flat car, coal car and wheel sets from his passenger car that he is building.  The evening finished with some “holiday hugs” and wishes for a safe and a happy season with family and friends.  Thanks to all that made it possible!!

The blacksmiths will meet at Ted Stout’s at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 13th.  If you plan to attend, please bring a “sack lunch”.  Demonstration will be how to make scrolls.

2007 membership dues are due now.  If your name on your newsletter has been highlighted in yellow, that means our records show your dues have not been paid for the year.  Remember, your dues help pay the cost of postage each month.  Send your payment to Doris Manlief, 3618 Donna Dr., Lafayette, In.  47905.   Thanks!
