ILLIANA NEWS

APRIL 2007                                                ISSUE 4

MEETING:

Hope everyone had a nice Easter with family and friends.....the Easter Bunny must have had to wear his winter coat since it was not very spring-like weather!!

The next meeting of the Illinana Antique Power Assoc.  will be April 16th at 6:30 P.M. at the club house.  Bring a dish to pass for the dinner and something for the table for the merchandise drawing.  The grass has started to grow so we need to keep adding to the mowing fund!

HISTORY DAY:

Last month’s newsletter listed our History Day as May 8th, but the correct date is MONDAY, MAY 7TH.  Sorry for the mistake.  Joan Fry and her committee are in the process of planning the event for the Benton County School System.  VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help that day

and for work days on Saturday, May 5th and Sunday May 6th.  Contact Joan at 765-869-5406 or E-mail:   fryfarm@localline.com   Kathy Olin has material to sew the souvenir bags that are handed out to the students.  It’s a big job, so, if you’d like to sew a few bags contact Kathy at 765-339-7977 or E-mail: olin@tctc.com   A committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 12th at the club house at 6:30 P.M.  Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend.

TREES FOR SALE:

Art Petty has purchased “three-year-old bare-root” trees from the Indiana State Nursery and has a few extras available.  They are: Norway spruce, red pine and white pine.  If anyone is interested in purchasing some from him contact Art at 765-294-2301 or E-mail: hpetty@peoplepc.com.   They will be $0.75 each.  He will have them available at the meeting.

FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER:

It was voted by the members to return to the original “ham and bean dinner” on Friday night of our show.  Jeremiah Eyrich has agreed to cook the sweet corn and potatoes for us with his steam engine.  It is not required to bring a dish to pass, but if anyone would like to donate a desert - it will not be turned down!  Drinks will be provided by the club.  This is not intended for outsiders coming in for the meal only....it is exclusively for the vendors (and/or spouses and helpers) and members and their families of our organization that are involved with the show.

HISTORY DAY - MAY 7TH

A REMINDER:

Warren County Historical Society’s Open House is May 19, 2007 at their museum in Williamsport.  Tom Swanson has volunteered to have a display for the Illiana Antique Power Assoc.   If you would like to participate with an item for display or help pass out flyers for our show, contact Tom at 765-762-2009.  It sounds like a good event to attend with your family and friends.

ROCKY FORGE BLACKSMITHS GUILD:

The next meeting of the Blacksmiths will be April 14th at 9:00 A.M. in Ted’s shop.  We will continue to fabricate the metal sign to show our talents and advertise “ROCKY FORGE”.  This has been a good experience for our members to learn some new techniques and apply old skills to fabricate each of the many components of the sign.  At the next meeting we will discuss plans for the History Day and plans to start a building project at the show grounds.  By negotiation, Ted has received a significant collection of books, tapes and journals addressing black smithing and machine shop work.  Those items will be made available for check out by the club members.
