All members are encouraged to help get the show grounds and equipment prepared for our July Show on Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th. Tom Swanson is also planning to be at the grounds during the week of the show (July 11th – 14th). Any help and time that you can spend either on the weekend or through the week will be appreciated. Please help out….there is a lot to do to get ready for the show!
More gas tractors were produced by Ford in 1923 than all of the steam engines made in the previous half-century.
Our “feature reporters” are taking a break from their news this month to get ready for the show. They will be back next month with their monthly reports and articles.
Thanks to everyone who helped install the new water tank along the railroad tracks; who sprayed the weeds around the tracks, trees and buildings; who helped cut, bind, and shock the wheat (it was a huge and hot job!) and mowed the field in the new parking area. Also thanks to John Ohls who is currently painting the windmill and John Dillman who cut the tree down by the railroad tracks. Everything is looking great!
Gale Cunningham from “WIXY Classic Radio” – 99.1 FM will be
broadcasting from the show on Friday, July 15th. Gale travels to County 4-H Fairs in both

HELP – HELP – HELP!
A reminder that Tom Nickle and Art Petty need volunteers to help at the gate! There will be a sign-up sheet in the clubhouse. Or, you can call Tom at 765-585-8371 or Art at 765-294-2301 to let them know when you’d like to work. We need a lot of helpers here…….
both men and women on all three days. Donna Starry and Donna Lechlitner also need volunteers to help with the pies. Call Donna at 765-762-1443 and let her know when you can help. (Let’s not discriminate, men and boys can help here to. Don’t worry, they won’t make you wear an apron!)
I’d like to thank everyone for their kind words, calls and cards on my brother Al’s passing on Father’s Day and for Terry’s stay in the hospital. We are blessed with some terrific friends and family. We love you all!
Thanks again, Anne Bodine

Each year they give of their time and much more.

765-793-3282. Camping fee is $25.00.

THAT REQUIRE REFRIGERATION. Donna Starry & Donna Lechlitner are
in charge and will need volunteers to help in the pavilion. Let’s help them for
an hour or two.
_____3. FLOWERS: Please loan us your pots of plants or flowers to set around the
grounds. It always looks so nice to have pots “sprinkled” around the exhibits
and it makes our show grounds one of the prettiest in the country!
_____4. GATE HELP: Again we stress the importance to sign up to work the gate.
Tom & Art need all the help they can get. It’s fun meeting and talking to the
people attending the show …it’s interesting to find out where they have traveled
from. We will have the “Treasure Hunt Game” available for the children to
play during the show along with the show programs to pass out.
_____5. P.A. SYSTEM: Kenny Short will be announcing events over the P.A. system.
If there is an announcement of interest to you, please let Kenny know. Contact
Kenny at: 765-583-2991 or e-mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org

Terry & Don Bodine will cook some sweet corn & potatoes with the steam
engine and Kathy Olin will mix up some of her famous Cole Slaw. Don
Evans has scheduled the Bismark Illinois High School Jazz Band to entertain
around 7:00 P.M. This group is quite famous in the area with an outstanding
drummer. They play all sorts of music besides jazz.
____10. EXHIBITORS: All exhibitors need to un-load at the west end of the west
parking lot and drive along the side of the R.R. tracks to the north-east corner by
the saw mill. Empty trailers will be stored in the same west parking lot. New
gate entry will be on the east side of the show grounds.
ROCKY FORGE BLACKSMITH NEWS:
The Rocky Forge group will meet at Ted’s shop on July 9th. Coffee and doughnuts will be available after 8:30 and we’ll have a short meeting starting promptly at 9:00. After the meeting the forges can be started and we can forge until noon. There is plenty of metal to play with so just bring your bucket of favorite tools. Carol will cook hamburgers so if you bring a covered dish to pass, we should have a good lunch. After lunch we will load our sign, anvils, forge blowers, etc. and take them to the Illiana Steam and Power show grounds and proceed to begin the setup for the show. The Illiana Antique Power Show will be July 15th, 16th and 17th at their show grounds north of Attica on Highway 41 to the Rainsville road, then turn east and go about 1.5 miles to the show grounds. This is an important event for the Rocky Forge group so I encourage all our members to participate for the weekend show. There will be a free dinner Friday evening with entertainment (free will offering for the entertainment). Bring iron in the hat for the July 9th meeting. See you all then.
